Waiting On Wednesday: Drop Dead Demons

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Breaking the Spine. It lets us spotlight that haven't been released and that we can't wait for. This week we've picked Drop Dead Demons by A&E Kirk, which is scheduled to release on May 27, 2014.

-----------------------------

Seventeen-year-old Aurora Lahey has figured out why everyone is trying to kill her...now she just needs to figure out how to stop them.

Between all the hell-hired assassins and secret society traitors hunting her down, Aurora didn’t think life as the Divinicus Nex could get worse.

Sure, she's discovered some lethal powers of her own. Plus, six sexy, super-charged, demon-hunting Hex Boys are watching her back. And yes, Aurora doesn't mind running into the muscled arms of the hottest one—and he’s not complaining either.

But when a seductive stranger with questionable motives delivers a deadly ultimatum, Aurora and the Hex Boys plunge into a do-or-die hunt for a legendary treasure that will either finally shift power in their favor or unleash hell on earth.

Pursued by demons of mythical proportions, Aurora and the Hex Boys race deeper into a shadowy world of a centuries old mystery and brutal conspiracy, where no one and nothing is what it seems. Where love and betrayal go hand-in-hand, and trusting the wrong person not only breaks your heart, but can get you killed.

Hiding her Divinicus Nex status from those chasing her, lying to her pretend-wish-he-were-real boyfriend, dodging demons, breaking into tombs, hunting her blackmailer, and passing Physics...Aurora could do that in her sleep.

Or more likely, die trying.

------------------------------
I cannot wait for this book. I read the first book of the series when it was still brand new and I loved the whole story and plot since then. I've been waiting two years for Drop Dead Demons to finially come out and it has, I couldn't be any happier. The plot line is great and not to mention all the guys in the story are hot.

Waiting On Wednesday: City of Heavenly Fire

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Breaking the Spine. It lets us spotlight books that haven't been released and that we can't wait for. This week we've picked City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare, which is scheduled to release May 27, 2014.
------------------------------

ΕRCHOMAI, SEBASTIAN HAD SAID.

I am coming.

Darkness returns to the Shadowhunter world. As their society falls apart around them, Clary, Jace, Simon and their friends must band together to fight the greatest evil the Nephilim have ever faced: Clary’s own brother. Nothing in the world can defeat him — must they journey to another world to find the chance? Lives will be lost, love sacrificed, and the whole world changed in the sixth and last installment of the Mortal Instruments series!

-----------------------------------------

Jordyn has been on the edge of her seat while waiting for this installment of The Mortal Instruments to be released. I will admit that I myself have not read any of the books in this series but Jordyn did force me to watch teh movie adaptation of it. i will say the storyline itself seems very interesting, just not my personal style. that doesn't mean I can't wait for it to be released, though. not only are we spotlighting this book but we also have a countdown for it on one of our sidebars. The cover fits along very well with the rest of the known covers and i know fans have been debating over which two characters are actually suppose to be on the cover.

Waiting on Wednesday: Killer Instinct

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Breaking the Spine. It lets us spotlight books that haven't been relaesed and that we can't wait for. This week we've picked Killer Instinct  by S.E. Green, Shannon Greenland, which is scheduled to release on May 6, 2014.
-------------------------------

She’s not evil, but she has certain... urges.

Lane is a typical teenager. Loving family. Good grades. Afterschool job at the local animal hospital. Martial arts enthusiast. But her secret obsession is studying serial killers. She understands them, knows what makes them tick.

Why?

Because she might be one herself.

Lane channels her dark impulses by hunting criminals—delivering justice when the law fails. The vigilantism stops shy of murder. But with each visceral rush the line of self-control blurs.
And then a young preschool teacher goes missing. Only to return... in parts.
When Lane excitedly gets involved in the hunt for “the Decapitator,” the vicious serial murderer that has come to her hometown, she gets dangerously caught up in a web of lies about her birth dad and her own dark past. And once the Decapitator contacts Lane directly, Lane knows she is no longer invisible or safe. Now she needs to use her unique talents to find the true killer’s identity before she—or someone she loves—becomes the next victim...
----------------------------

We can't wait for this book to be published! It's coming very soon but we've had our eyes oon it seen it first popped up on all of our Goodreads dashes. Jordyn, Michaela, and I have always been fascinated by serial killers and what makes them tick. Was it something in their childhood? Is there something wrong with them mentally? Either way, we think this book is gonna be great and we're jumoing in our seats, excited for it to finally come.

Waiting on Wednesday: The Art of Falling

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Breaking the Spine. It let us spotlight books that haven't been released, but that we can't wait for. This week we've picked The Art of Falling by Kathryn Craft  which is scheduled to be released on January 28th, 2014.
-------------------------------------------------

One wrong step could send her over the edge.

All Penny has ever wanted to do is dance—and when that chance is taken from her, it pushes her to the brink of despair, from which she might never return. When she wakes up after a traumatic fall, bruised and battered but miraculously alive, Penny must confront the memories that have haunted her for years, using her love of movement to pick up the pieces of her shattered life.

Kathryn Craft’s lyrical debut novel is a masterful portrayal of a young woman trying to come to terms with her body and the artistic world that has repeatedly rejected her. The Art of Falling expresses the beauty of movement, the stasis of despair, and the unlimited possibilities that come with a new beginning.
-------------------------------------------------

We can't wait to read this one for a ton of reason. The cover is gorgeous, first of all. And the story sounds intriguing. Also, our very own Michaela is a very dedicated dancer, so whenever books come along about dancer's going after their dreams and facing hardships comes along, our interests are always piqued.

Waiting on Wednesday: Adrenaline Rush

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Breaking the Spine. It let us spotlight books that haven't been released, but that we can't wait for. This week I've picked Adrenaline Rush by Cindy M. Hogan, which is scheduled to be released sometime late October (the 20th according to Amazon and the 26th according to Goodreads).
-------------------------------------------------
A madman with a mission is kidnapping groups of thrill-seeking high school seniors across the country, and it’s up to Christy to stop him.

To do so, she must take on a fearless alter ego and infiltrate a group of adrenaline junkies bent on pushing life to the limit. Death-defying stunts are only the beginning: two groups fit the profile, and Christy must discover the real target before it’s too late.

If she chooses the wrong group, more people will disappear. But choosing right puts her as the prime target—with no guarantee that she’ll get out alive.
-------------------------------------------------
I can't wait to read this one! I heard about it a while back and I really loved the cover. I've always enjoyed books about teens doing undercover and government-type jobs too. Those novels keep me entertained and interested. I also really like the idea of the adrenaline junkies, and I'm wondering how that will fit into the storyline.

Waiting on Wednesday: Teardrop

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Breaking the Spine. It let us spotlight books that haven't been released, but that we can't wait for. This week I've picked Teardrop by Lauren Kate, which is scheduled to be released on October 22nd, 2013.
-------------------------------------------------

Never, ever cry. . . . Eureka Boudreaux's mother drilled that rule into her daughter years ago. But now her mother is gone, and everywhere Eureka goes he is there: Ander, the tall, pale blond boy who seems to know things he shouldn't, who tells Eureka she is in grave danger, who comes closer to making her cry than anyone has before.

But Ander doesn't know Eureka's darkest secret: ever since her mother drowned in a freak accident, Eureka wishes she were dead, too. She has little left that she cares about, just her oldest friend, Brooks, and a strange inheritance—a locket, a letter, a mysterious stone, and an ancient book no one understands. The book contains a haunting tale about a girl who got her heart broken and cried an entire continent into the sea. Eureka is about to discover that the ancient tale is more than a story, that Ander might be telling the truth . . . and that her life has far darker undercurrents than she ever imagined.
-------------------------------------------------
I've read a few books by Lauren Kate, consisting of some of her Fallen series. (Although I'm not all caught up and still need to finish the series.) I really enjoyed the first few books that I read and I love the synopsis for this book. The story idea is so intriguing and it sounds really new and fresh. Also, it comes out the day after my birthday!

Waiting on Wednesday: Sick

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Breaking the Spine. It let us spotlight books that haven't been released, but that we can't wait for. This week I've picked Sick by Tom Leveen, which is scheduled to be released on October 1st, 2013.
-------------------------------------------------

Breakfast Club meets The Walking Dead as a group of unlikely allies tries to survive a deadly outbreak.

Brian and his friends are not part of the cool crowd. They’re the misfits and the troublemakers—the ones who jump their high school’s fence to skip class regularly. So when a deadly virus breaks out, they’re the only ones with a chance of surviving.

The virus turns Brian’s classmates and teachers into bloodthirsty attackers who don’t die easily. The whole school goes on lockdown, but Brian and his best friend, Chad, are safe (and stuck) in the theater department—far from Brian’s sister, Kenzie, and his ex-girlfriend with a panic attack problem, Laura. Brian and Chad, along with some of the theater kids Brian had never given the time of day before, decide to find the girls and bring them to the safety of the theater. But it won’t be easy, and it will test everything they thought they knew about themselves and their classmates.
-------------------------------------------------
I'm really excited to read this one for a few reasons. The cover really drew me in because I love black and red color schemes. However, the part that really got me interested was the first bit of the blurb. I love both Breakfast Club and The Walking Dead, so I hope this story holds true to what it says, because if it does, I'll probably love it.

Waiting on Wednesday: The Naturals

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Breaking the Spine. It let us spotlight books that haven't been released, but that we can't wait for. This week I've picked The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, which is scheduled to be released on November 5th, 2013.
-------------------------------------------------

Seventeen-year-old Cassie is a natural at reading people. Piecing together the tiniest details, she can tell you who you are and what you want. But it’s not a skill that she’s ever taken seriously. That is, until the FBI come knocking: they’ve begun a classified program that uses exceptional teenagers to crack infamous cold cases, and they need Cassie.

What Cassie doesn’t realize is that there’s more at risk than a few unsolved homicides— especially when she’s sent to live with a group of teens whose gifts are as unusual as her own.

Sarcastic, privileged Michael has a knack for reading emotions, which he uses to get inside Cassie’s head—and under her skin. Brooding Dean shares Cassie’s gift for profiling, but keeps her at arm’s length.

Soon, it becomes clear that no one in the Naturals program is what they seem. And when a new killer strikes, danger looms closer than Cassie could ever have imagined. Caught in a lethal game of cat and mouse with a killer, the Naturals are going to have to use all of their gifts just to survive.
-------------------------------------------------
I'm really excited for this book to come out. I've read a few books my her that I've really liked and I love the premise of the story. I've always liked stories about kids with special abilities that are working with the government. They always have a cool feel about them. I also like the cover, and I'm wondering if the black box has anything to do with the story.

Waiting on Wednesday: Friends and Traitors

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Breaking the Spine. It let us spotlight books that haven't been released, but that we can't wait for. This week I've picked Friends and Traitors by C.J. Hill, which is scheduled to be released on October 15th, 2013.

-------------------------------------------------

The Slayers – teens who have powers to fight dragons—are back by popular demand in this high-octane sequel, now with a new cover package!

Tori is at a White House dinner party when she hears a horrifying sound: dragon eggs hatching. It means in less than a year, the dragons will be mature and dangerous. The Slayers are well-trained, but their group is not yet complete, and Tori is determined to track down Ryker Davis, the mysterious Slayer who has yet to surface.

What Tori doesn’t bargain for, however, is the surprising truth about her powers: she isn’t a Slayer after all, but a Dragon Lord, with a built-in predisposition to protect dragons, not kill them.
How will she overcome this to save the lives of her friends?

-------------------------------------------------

I recently read the first book in this series and I really loved it. I enjoyed the characters and the world that they were in. Plus, aren't dragons always cool? And I really love the cover! I can't wait for this one to come out so I can read it!

Waiting On Wednesday: All The Truth That's In Me

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Breaking the Spine. It lets us spotlight books that haven't been released, but that we can't wait for. This week I've picked All The Truth That's In Me by Julie Berry, which is scheduled to be released on September 26th of 2013.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Four years ago, Judith and her best friend disappeared from their small town of Roswell Station. Two years ago, only Judith returned, permanently mutilated, reviled and ignored by those who were once her friends and family. Unable to speak, Judith lives like a ghost in her own home, silently pouring out her thoughts to the boy who’s owned her heart as long as she can remember—even if he doesn’t know it—her childhood friend, Lucas. But when Roswell Station is attacked, long-buried secrets come to light, and Judith is forced to choose: continue to live in silence, or recover her voice, even if it means changing her world, and the lives around her, forever. This startlingly original novel will shock and disturb you; it will fill you with Judith’s passion and longing; and its mysteries will keep you feverishly turning the pages until the very last.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was really drawn in when I saw this cover. It looks so dark and kind of frightening. I also love the blurb. It sounds like it's going to have a great mix of mystery, romance, and maybe even a little horror. I can't wait to find out what happens to Judith.

Waiting On Wednesday: Angel Fever & Relativity

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Breaking the Spine. It lets us spotlight books that haven't been released, but that we can't wait for. This week we've picked two separate books that we're waiting for.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Angie's Pick

I'm waiting for Relativity by Cristin Bishara, which come out on September 10th.

If Ruby Wright could have her way, her dad would never have met and married her stepmother Willow, her best friend George would be more than a friend, and her mom would still be alive. Ruby knows wishes can't come true; some things just can't be undone. Then she discovers a tree in the middle of an Ohio cornfield with a wormhole to nine alternative realities.

Suddenly, Ruby can access completely different realities, each containing variations of her life—if things had gone differently at key moments. The windshield wiper missing her mother’s throat…her big brother surviving his ill-fated birth…her father never having met Willow. Her ideal world—one with everything and everyone she wants most—could be within reach. But is there such a thing as a perfect world? What is Ruby willing to give up to find out?
~~~~~
This book sounds interesting because I've always thought the idea of alternate realities to be intriguing. And the cover looks flipping awesome. I can't wait to read it!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jordyn's Pick
This week I'm waiting for Angel Fever by L.A. Weatherly. It comes out on November 26th.
As half-angel Willow strives to save the world from her parasitic otherworldly kin, romance and tension heat up to a climactic finale.
In the devastated remains of the world, millions of people live in "refugee" camps provided by the angels who have all but enslaved humanity. As this angelic stranglehold tightens, Willow and Alex are recruiting and training new Angel Killers while struggling to hold ground on the celestial battlefield. But Willow continues to have feelings for Seb, and her love and resolve are tested as a shattering revelation sends Alex on a separate journey. Now that the final battle versus the angels is about to begin-and the fate of the world hangs in the balance-each of them must face the consequences of their own choices. Will love endure? Will the human race survive?
~~~~~

I read the first two books in this series and both of them just blew me away. Angel's in this series are a completely different concept. They're evil and cruel and possibly unstoppable. But I adore cheering for the still-hopeful band of heroes. Plus, that cover is gorgeous and really symbolizes how the world has basically gone up in flames.

Waiting On Wednesday: Independent Study

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Breaking the Spine. It lets us spotlight books that haven't been released, but that we can't wait for. This week I've picked Independent Study by Joelle Charbonneau, which is scheduled to be released on January 7th of 2014.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the series debut The Testing, sixteen-year-old Cia Vale was chosen by the United Commonwealth government as one of the best and brightest graduates of all the colonies . . . a promising leader in the effort to revitalize postwar civilization. In Independent Study, Cia is a freshman at the University in Tosu City with her hometown sweetheart, Tomas—and though the government has tried to erase her memory of the brutal horrors of The Testing, Cia remembers. Her attempts to expose the ugly truth behind the government’s murderous programs put her—and her loved ones—in a world of danger. But the future of the Commonwealth depends on her.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I personally can't wait for this book to come out. I read an ARC copy of The Testing and I absolutely loved it. It was really dramatic and while it kind of reminded me of The Hunger Games it had it's own feel. It also seemed a lot darker to me. But either way I'm really excited for it to come out so I can see what happens next. And I love the cover!

Waiting On Wednesday: Wild Cards & To All The Boys I've Loved Before

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Breaking the Spine. It lets us spotlight books that haven't been released, but that we can't wait for. This week we've picked two separate books that we're waiting for.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jordyn's Pick

I'm  excited for Wild Cards by Simone Elkeles, which will be released on October 1st, 2013

After getting kicked out of boarding school, bad boy Derek Fitzpatrick has no choice but to live with his ditzy stepmother while his military dad is deployed. Things quickly go from bad to worse when he finds out she plans to move them back to her childhood home in Illinois. Derek’s counting the days before he can be on his own, and the last thing he needs is to get involved with someone else’s family drama.

Ashtyn Parker knows one thing for certain--people you care about leave without a backward glance. A football scholarship would finally give her the chance to leave. So she pours everything into winning a state championship, until her boyfriend and star quarterback betrays them all by joining their rival team. Ashtyn needs a new game plan, but it requires trusting Derek—someone she barely knows, someone born to break the rules. Is she willing to put her heart on the line to try and win it all?
~~~
This is a book I've been eagerly awaiting ever since I found out about it. I loved Simone Elkeles's Perfect Chemistry series, in fact I convinced most of my friends to read them and love them too (although they chose to love them on their own). I'm not usually big on books revolving around football, but I'm still excitedly looking forward to this release.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Angie's Pick
I'm waiting for To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han, which will be coming out on April 22nd of 2014.
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is the story of Lara Jean, who has never openly admitted her crushes, but instead wrote each boy a letter about how she felt, sealed it, and hid it in a box under her bed. But one day Lara Jean discovers that somehow her secret box of letters has been mailed, causing all her crushes from her past to confront her about the letters…
~~~
I'm looking forward to reading this one because it looks like I'll be able to connect with the character. (Yeah, I know. That shows how great my luck is.) The premise of the story sounds interesting and I can't wait to see how Lara Jean handles the problems that arise in the story.

Waiting On Wednesday: Find Me

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Breaking the Spine. It lets us spotlight books that haven't been released, but that we can't wait for. This week I've picked Find Me by Romily Bernard, which will be released on September 24th, 2013.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Find Me.”

These are the words written on Tessa Waye’s diary. The diary that ends up with Wick Tate. But Tessa’s just been found . . . dead.

Wick has the right computer-hacking skills for the job, but little interest in this perverse game of hide-and-seek. Until her sister Lily is the next target.

Then Griff, trailer-park boy next door and fellow hacker, shows up, intent on helping Wick. Is a happy ending possible with the threat of Wick’s deadbeat dad returning, the detective hunting him sniffing around Wick instead, and a killer taunting her at every step?

Foster child. Daughter of a felon. Loner hacker girl. Wick has a bad attitude and sarcasm to spare.

But she’s going to find this killer no matter what.

Because it just got personal.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't wait for this book to come out. I've always had an interest in the whole general idea of hackers. (I mean, can you say skills?) I've also always loved books about kids who come from bad pasts and use sarcasm about as often as they use air. So the blurb made this book sound really interesting to me. And besides, that cover looks pretty epic, in my personal opinion.
